View from our B&B |

This was our only rainy day. There was a quick thunderstorm, but by the time we were ready to find a restaurant, the rain stopped.

When I think of Florence I think of art. If we wanted to we could have spent our whole vacation just visiting museums in Florence. We had a 4pm skip the line pass for the Gallerie degli Uffizi. If you love art you will want to spend some time here. From there we visited Palazzo Vecchio and walked around to see some replicas of Michelangelo sculptures.

Ponte Vecchio |

We walked to the
Ponte Vecchio bridge.
If you want jewelry
that is the place to be.
They have everything
you can imagine.
Thursday 10/3/2019- I had a 9 a.m. appointment to climb to the top of the Duomo. It is 463 steps up. If you are afraid of heights or small spaces then this isn't for you. The view from the top is amazing and well worth it.
After my adventure I joined my family and we toured the Baptistery and Duomo Cathedral. The stone and wood has so much detail it is incredible. Waiting in line gives you time to take in the architecture and artistry.

Here are a few of
the pictures taken
while we toured the
Duomo and Baptistery.

In the afternoon we went to the Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace.
If you like hiking these gardens are a great place to test your hiking skills. We spent over an hour in the gardens and didn't even get halfway through.

It is hard to believe that Pitti Palace was built in 1465 and the Medici's walked those very halls.
This was the one city where we had been given a specific restaurant recommendation, the Acqua al 2 Restaurant. Reservations were required, but it was well worth the extra effort. It was a great way to finish our time in Florence. The restaurant was off the beaten path, on a quiet side street. The food and atmosphere was amazing!
