Monteriggioni

Our next adventure was the walled "city" of Monteriggioni.  This is a great way to imagine how it would be to live 1,000 years ago in a city in Italy.

You can see this small walled city from miles away because it sits up high on the biggest hill for miles, but is right off a major highway.

There is a small chapel and a larger church with a steeple.

If you look closely at the wall you can see the modern day walkway built that allows you to go up to the top of the wall and look at the views from there.

We had lunch, looked at the views from the top of the wall, visited a small museum and in a few hours we were ready to move on to the 2nd walled city of the day.

If you want to see more pictures of our time in Monteriggioni please feel free to look through our Monteriggioni Album.
