October 10, 2019 - We started this day in Siena, continued to Pienza, Montepulciano and ended our day in
Orvieto. I chose this town simply because they had a Hertz rental car location and a train station. So we could drop off our car and head to Rome by Train.

As I started to read about it I knew this was the right place to end our Tuscany tour. When you are driving toward Orvieto we could see the cathedral and the cliffs the town sits on from miles away.

When we arrived we were going to take a taxi into the town since this is a "walled city". However, we found that there is a funicolare. How could we resist! A bit more walking, but worth the experience.

We were able to get checked into our hotel and start walking through the town just as the sun was setting. The lighting at night added a yellow tint to the stone walls, which added to the ambiance.

Later I went for a walk by myself to get some good pictures with the full moon. I was alone with a few cats and a some "real" photographers.

There were a lot of shops on the main street. They had a small courtyard in the town center.
If you want to see more pictures of our time in Orvieto please feel free to look through our
Orvieto Album.
