Siena

 Thursday 10/09/2019 - We left first thing in the morning from San Gimignano to Siena.  It was only about a 30 minute drive.  We selected a hotel just on the edge of the city, inside the walls.

I didn't plan any details for our visit to Siena because I added it to our agenda last minute.  Our hotel gave us a map of the city and suggested which locations we should visit.  That worked out great.


There is a large courtyard full of restaurants and several impressive cathedrals and churches.  As we came across a new cathedral while walking through the city, we would stop to tour it.

We could have used an extra day in order to really take in the beauty of this city.  I would love to come back to visit Siena another time.

Siena is a hilly city.   If you look closely you will probably see that a lot of the pictures are not perfectly level.  The picture of the restaurant tables tells the tale the best.



The views of the rolling countryside with the vineyards from our hotel room were stunning.
